CONTAINER DELIVERY

Things to Know Before You Order a Shipping Container

We deliver containers on roll-off trailers, so you won’t need a forklift or a crane to unload at delivery. However, you must ensure that you have enough space for delivery and that your site is ready for the truck.

The trucks are BIG,
and we need space to deliver.

One of the biggest considerations when determining what size container you should buy is where it will be delivered. You need a lot of extra space.

40 & 45 FOOT CONTAINERS

40 & 45ft containers use a roll-off truck and need a total of 120 linear feet of space for the container to be dropped off.

10 & 20 FOOT CONTAINERS

10 & 20ft containers are delivered on a tilt-bed and need an additional 55 feet of space for the truck to deliver. That is 75 linear feet of total space necessary.

Both truck types need clearance from obstacles of 12 feet wide & 13.5 feet high (up to 16ft high when tipped at delivery).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pick my container color?

Yes, you can choose any RAL color only for a NEW shipping container customization. However intermodal depots are busy places and most of the containers stacked up are being used for cargo. When you buy a used shipping container from our company, we act as a broker and source a container directly from global intermodal equipment providers.

For used containers we are unable to allow the customer to request their color, however we can offer beige and grey color options for One Trip containers. If you’re ordering multiple units, we can usually guarantee matching units (upon request, based on availability).

Can you assist me in exporting my container?

Exporting a container is significantly more difficult than purchasing one. We strongly advise any customers who need to use their container for export to work with a freight forwarder first, and then contact us about a week or two before you want to pick it up. In addition, we propose that your freight forwarder arrange all trucking. Because we only offer ground level delivery and cannot move loaded containers, you’ll almost certainly require a crane to transfer your container onto the chassis when the truck arrives. Working with your freight forwarder to arrange for a hauler to drop the container on a chassis eliminates the need for a crane to load it onto the truck.

If you’re purchasing a shipping container for export, you can add a CSC Survey to your order (please keep in mind that surveys add 3-5 business days to the typical timetable). We will gladly supply a cargo worthy (CWO) container and coordinate a CSC survey at the depot prior to your hauler picking up the container. Learn more about CSC surveys.

Can you relocate a container I already have?
We do not transport containers that we did not sell or rent. If you need an existing container transported, we recommend contacting a local heavy hauling or wrecking/towing business.
Can I inspect the shipping container before purchasing it?

We cannot collect images or guarantee a specific unit because the containers are stacked at the intermodal depot. Empty shipping containers are stored at the depots for shipping lines and intermodal equipment providers. When we place an order for one of our customers, they select the next container from the stack that satisfies their requirements.

Because intermodal facilities are so busy, we don’t have the opportunity to allow customers choose from a large choice of container alternatives for the shipping containers we sell. Furthermore, not every container in the stack is for sale (about 95% of containers at depots are not for sale and continue to be used for cargo).

Unfortunately, this implies that clients will be unable to select a specific container. We guarantee every container we sell and make every effort to create reasonable expectations for what your container will look like.

Can I pick up the container myself?

We are pleased to load your truck at the depot if you have the necessary equipment to transport a shipping container safely (if you do not have a truck capable of safely hauling a container, we may assist you with delivery).

Following your purchase, we will send you a release number and pick-up instructions. On the release date, you can then proceed to the intermodal depot and have the container loaded onto your vehicle.

Please be advised that you must follow all DOT and OSHA standards while at the intermodal depot, and Western Container Sales is not responsible for any issues that arise during shipment.

Standard or  Hi-Cube 20′ & 40′ Containers Available

HOW DO HI-CUBES WORK?  The dimensions of HiCubes, which are ordinary containers with an additional foot of height, are 20′ or 40′ x 8′ x 9’6″ (LxBxH). At a slightly higher rental price but often with the same transport, they provide 10% more storage capacity.

Tunnel Shipping Containers With Extra Doors

You can also rent containers with end and side doors. The side doors open to provide approximately 18 feet of uninterrupted side access. Additionally, we provide 20′ and 40′ containers with regular end doors on both ends to improve access to your stored goods. Both kinds are frequently offered in Hi-Cube form.

Side Door Shipping Containers for Rent

We make an aperture in the side of a new and used shipping container and install a new entrance into it. Our S1 door type is the most popular side door option. They are much lighter and hence better for frequent usage because they are made of flat steel panels rather than corrugated steel panels – you don’t have to battle with them every time you need access to your storage!
