CSC Survey for Shipping Containers

A trained inspector checks that the container meets the standards indicated on the CSC plate when a survey is purchased. The completed survey is subsequently forwarded to your shipping company to check that the SOC (shipper-owned container) meets the required safety criteria for stacking on a ship.

Only Cargo Worthy & One Trip containers are surveyed.

Cargo-worthy CWO containers have the structural integrity to be stacked 7-high on a cargo ship. One Trip Cargo containers are made in the last 1-2 years.

Captain Container only surveys containers that we have sold.

The CSC Marine survey adds an additional 2-3 business days to your pickup date (4-6 business days total for the container to be surveyed and released).

Captain Containers does not assist with exports.

We recommend that you arrange your shipment for export first, then order your container about a week before you plan on picking it up for shipping.

We Cannot Move Loaded Containers

Captain Containers are unable to transport loaded containers. When you place an order with us, our haulers will place the container on the ground. When the truck arrives, you’ll need a crane or forklift to load the container back onto the chassis. Customers that purchase a shipping container for export should handle their own trucking.

If a shipping container is going to be used for overseas shipping it must have a valid and up to date CSC plate. In order to obtain a CSC plate the container must be inspected by a licensed inspector. Most inspections, known as surveys, are valid for 12 – 18 months depending on the discrepancy of the inspector. Surveys ensure that the condition of the container is cargo-worthy and able to ensure the safe and secure overseas transport of goods.
