Using anhydrous calcium chloride as the desiccant, Damp Stick is designed to work in relatively open environments as opposed to silica gel and activated clay which must be contained within a controlled atmosphere such as a hermetically-sealed barrier foil bag.

How Does The Damp Stick Work?

• The Dampstick® starts working when removed from its high-barrier, protective cover. After unwrapping the Dampstick®, hang it in a convenient location. You might not notice anything different at first. This is due to the crystals’ need to collect moisture before depositing liquid in the pole’s bottom sump portion.
• The amount of moisture that the pole is dealing with will affect how long it takes for you to detect some liquid collecting in the bottom of the sump. The Dampstick® can contain more than 2 liters of water, so make sure it is hung somewhere strong enough to support that weight.
• When the liquid reaches the maximum level, it’s time for a new Dampstick®! We recommend 4-6 poles for 20ft containers and 6-12 poles for 40ft containers, however, the quantity varies depending on the length of transportation, weather circumstances, and cargo type.
